Critical Care Partners

What we do

We’re a partnership of highly experienced, consultant physicians specialising in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Perioperative medicine (before, during and after an operation) in Ireland.

Founded in 2014, the practice has become one of the largest group medical-practices in Ireland. Our partners work across a number of hospitals in the greater Dublin area and beyond.

The founding principles of Critical Care Partners (CCP) are based on the internationally accepted model of collaborative group-practice, to deliver the best patient outcomes and safest care, on a 24/7 basis, every day of the year.

Our partners are all highly experienced doctors, trained nationally and internationally.

The practice has a strong research and education focus with a number of active research and teaching commitments.

We have established formal research links with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), University College Dublin (UCD) and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). UCD rotates their medical students through the ICU we run at the Beacon Hospital within an active teaching programme. Such an arrangement does not usually exist in major teaching hospitals.

All our non-consultant staff are participating in either MD or PhD research programmes and we have a dedicated nurse to coordinate our Clinical Trials submissions. These include being one of only two Irish ICUs to partner with 100 other international ICUs in the Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) to partake in their clinical ICU trials.

All of our COVID-19 patients are being entered into ANZICS trial group studies on new treatments for COVID-19.

We have a full administrative team ensuring we run smoothly at an operational level. Our system also ensures that our Anaesthesiologists are briefed on each surgical consultant’s surgical preferences, allowing the most effective partnership between the two consultants during a procedure, resulting in better outcomes for the patient.
